Amethyst Bracelets
Amethyst is a stone that has long been favored by royalty and by Church authorities. Amethyst is the traditional February birthstone, but is so beautiful that it is a favorite gemstone of many people. Because the name for the amethyst comes from the Greek word for "not-drunken", amethyst is believed to combat drunkeness and still is a symbol for sobriety. Our amethyst bracelets can be sized to fit you.

The origin of the amethyst was attributed in Greek myth to Dionysius, the god of wine and fertility. After a mortal insulted him one day, he swore revenge on the next person he saw. Unknowingly a beautiful woman named Amethyst, on her way to worship Diana, was the next person he saw. Tigers ran for her, but Diana, taking pity, turned Amethyst into a statue of pure quartz, safe from the tigers' claws. When he saw what he had done Dionysius wept tears of wine which fell upon Amethyst's statue turning it purple and creating the gemstone.

Many people think that amethyst bracelets will only match clothing with a lot of purple. However, amethyst bracelets look great with black (of course), yellow (yes, yellow! think of irises in Springtime), many shades of blue, pinks, are super with greys, and look superb against an all white summer outfit.
An amethyst bracelet makes a wonderful gift that will never go out of style, especially for women who have a February birthday!
