Garnet Necklaces
If garnet necklaces - and especially garnet and silver necklaces - make you think of the Victorian era, then think again. While we like the garnet jewelry of the Victorian age, we also like mixing those garnets with lampwork beads and other stones that are a bit more contemporary in feeling. If you've never owned a garnet necklace (or any garnet jewelry) you will be shocked at how versatile the deep red colour is - garnets even look great with pink!
GwynethThis double strand garnet necklace has a variety of elements including deep borosilicate lampwork beads, faceted garnet nuggets, and a gorgeous sterling silver star like garnet pendant. The garnet pendant hangs from the longest strand which also features sterling silver handcrafted beads and accents. The shorter strand is part sterling silver Karen Hill Tribes imprinted chain and part garnet gemstones of different shapes and sizes with sterling silver. The sterling silver chain of large links also links the middle of the shorter strand to the middle of the longer strand (the garnet pendant is attached to the longer strand - not the chain). A pretty sterling silver flower clasp is the closure.

No, this necklace isn't on the wrong page. It does belong here with the other garnet necklaces because this garnet necklace is made with green garnets, usually known as grossular garnets. I'm a great fan of green garnets because these gemstones are the most beautiful colour of green, and the stones themselves are lovely especially when faceted and translucent. The garnet necklace here is also made with fabulous matching floral lampwork beads by James Derrick Reeves - one of his entire sets of lampwork beads are in this garnet necklace, in fact. Sterling silver accents and tiny little flower charms are scattered throughout the necklace. The last couple of inches on each side of the necklace are of Karen Hill Tribe tiny ring beads. A sterling curved lobster clasp is the closure. The colours in this garnet necklace are much prettier in person!

Diamonds in the Dark
Another fabulous garnet necklace made of small round garnet beads, rondelles, and some of my favorite faceted garnet nuggets (rather large for garnets, too!) This is a shorter garnet necklace (the display forms are not the same size as a person's neck) with two strands: the major strand consists of garnets, sterling silver, and three high-quality pink rhodochrosite oval beads (smooth). The second strand is of garnet rounds and serves as a foil or frame for the main strand, adding lushness and dimension. The closure is a sterling "S" clasp from the Karen Hill Tribes that has a handmade sterling rose sitting on top of it. This garnet necklace is pretty from behind, too. We can add a sterling extension chain to the garnet necklace for added versatility (free) at your request.
