Iolite Jewelry
We love iolite jewelry and iolite gemstones. Iolite is an unusual stone; because of pleochroism, the early Vikings used very thin pieces of iolite as a lens to determine planetary postitions and navigation.
The name iolite came from the Greek word "ios" which actually means violet. There are 3 colours in iolite, depending on the way that one looks at it (and making it very difficult for gem-cutters) - blue, violet, and yellow. It was also known as "water-sapphire" and high-quality iolite does resemble sapphire.

SOLDWater NymphSOLD
SOLDIolite mixes with lampwork boro beads for a delightful marriage of style and beauty. The boro beads are a deep clear colour and the iolite is a medium blue colour (not the darkest iolite - to go with these beads, I wanted some light to pass through this iolite, so I chose the lightest faceted nuggets and rounds and rondelles I had). The double-strand bracelet has wonderful faceted nuggets that catch the light - the iolite nuggets also make up the matching earrings, topped with a sterling silver bead and hanging from sterling silver earwires that close in back (kidney shaped) and decorated with a flower on the front. This is a lovely iolite jewelry set - a gemstone that you don't see that often in a matching set like this! A sterling silver toggle clasp is the closure.

Iolite Jewelry with Freshwater Pearls
Rajani
A classic and elegant combination but unusual for iolite jewelry: double strands of beautiful silver freshwater pearls leading to 3 nuggets of dark blue iolite. The iolite is surrounded by bright or "white" sterling silver accents and Bali sterling silver hand-decorated beads. A curved sterling silver lobster clasp is the closure and a bright Karen Hill Tribes sterling silver charm hangs beside it. Perfect to dress up - but will look classically great with a navy blue blazer, too.

Iolite Jewelry - Silver and Iolite Jewelry
Jolie
Jolie is French for "pretty" and this iolite bracelet is very pretty with its big iolite faceted nuggets in that great shade of dark blue. Sterling silver is the other star in this showy bracelet(sterling silver is really beautiful with iolite jewelry): a length of hand-decorated sterling silver Karen Hill Tribes beads on one side, a curved lobster clasp is the closure, and a sterling silver doubled length of chain is on the other side. Another unique piece of iolite jewelry to add to your collection! We can make matching iolite earrings, too, at your request.

Iolite Jewelry - Vermeil and Iolite Jewelry
Bangalore Singing
Iolite jewelry from the Raj Collection includes this iolite bracelet that also features emerald nuggets and small ruby rondelles - all genuine stones. Iolite is a fitting gemstone to go with emeralds and rubies since it was often called the "water-sapphire", and really, much of the iolite I've seen resembles more what I think of when I envision deep blue sapphires than the actual sapphire gemstone! Like many of the pieces of jewelry from the Raj Collection, this has vermeil accents and a vermeil toggle clasp closure. The bracelet has charms hanging at intervals from the bracelet - gemstone charms. A gorgeous artist's lampwork bead brings the colours of the bracelet together. And just for a bit of added interest, a 14 karat gold-filled chain links from the clasp to the middle of the bracelet. Can't you hear Bangalore singing?
