Sunstone is a "first cousin" to labradorite, and like labradorite, it has a wonderful flash or glimmer effect; in the case of sunstone, this is usually a dark red to peach to golden color.
Many people believe that sunstone can be used to repel destructive forces (including poisons) and even help relieve depression.

Hiding Behind the Sun
Three strands of AA sunstone ovals and rondelles make up this sunstone necklace. Added kick is provided by lampwork beads, etched and matt, in the "sunstone" color by Irene Collier, and sterling silver from Bali and the Thai Karen Hill Tribes. The necklace has a rich, lush look with its three strands, and is much prettier in person since it sparkles and glitters in the light. Looks great layered with the sunstone necklace above also.

The Sun Reigns
I have two types of sunstone jewelry: light and dark. This necklace belongs more in the "light" range. The sunstone in the necklace does have flash - that copper glitter that you see in the lighter sunstone as though someone had dabbed copper metallic paint on the beads in some places. This is a true assymetrical, but balanced , necklace with one side having smooth briolettes grouped in threes and the other side countering with a watch chain with a flower charm hanging from it. The focal center piece of the necklace are very fat smooth briolettes, not the flat ones. Complementing the sunstone are the lampwork beads in a lovely peach colour by Irene Collier (we like her lampwork). Sterling silver clasp and accents in this important piece of sunstone jewelry.

Double-strand sunstone bracelet is a wristful of sparkle, perfect for anytime of year! The main strand of the bracelet has wonderful borosilicate beads with the colour of the sunstone and a touch of pink as well. Sterling silver beads and charms (filigree, sunflower...) accent the sunstone and lampwork. The second strand is almost entirely sunstone with the slightest touches of sterling silver.
